What have you done today to lower your impact?
We are washing away the foundations of our existence on every front. It is high time we move from crashing about on the planet like a bull in china shop and find a way to go forward with intent. We must find systems of living based on sustainability. The systems and tools exist, it is up to each of us to adopt them.

For centuries, all of Christian Europe was meatless every Friday, by order of the Catholic church. True, fish was excepted, but then they went meatless for more than a month every year (Lent), plus other fasting days. These days it's just Lent that is meatless on Fridays. Say what you like about Catholicism, (and as someone raised in the religion, I feel plenty qualified to criticize) but they did at least encourage that much restraint.
