What have you done today to lower your impact?

We are washing away the foundations of our existence on every front. It is high time we move from crashing about on the planet like a bull in china shop and find a way to go forward with intent. We must find systems of living based on sustainability. The systems and tools exist, it is up to each of us to adopt them.

Earth Day Tree planting

We received our sweet cherry tree from Territorial Seed on Earth day and planted it out the next day. This makes number 29 in the list of fruit bearing trees and vines we've put in the ground since we started the Sustainable Living Project just about 1 year ago. We've got plans for at least 10 more but as they are still just plans we won't talk about them yet.

In this photo you can see an apple, a plum, 5 blueberries, and 1 grape but they are all pretty small yet and hard to pick out.

The one I'm putting in is a Compact Stella Cherry. Once it was well planted the whole area got sheet mulched and bordered with logs, as you can see around the apple and plum in the background. Gradually the grass is disappearing, thank goodness for that!
